Bears WR Mooney plans to “ball out” in return from ankle injury

Chicago Bears wide receiver DARNELL MOONEY was unable to build on his 2021 breakout season last year, playing just 12 games before fracturing his ankle. Mooney said recently that he expectsMore to be 100 percent by the start of the upcoming season, adding that he plans to “ball out” this season. Mooney was the No. 1 receiver last season, but DJ MOORE’s arrival changes the dynamic at wideout this year. If the pairing works out, it should help JUSTIN FIELDS progress as a quarterback and make for a more competitive offense in Chicago. Less

I like Chicago’s decision to obtain DJ Moore in that blockbuster trade involving the No. 1 overall pick. Carolina originally selected him with the 24th pick of the 2018 draft, and if teams knew how he would develop, he would have gone even earlier.   more »

Bears place WR Mooney on injured reserve

The Chicago Bears officially placed wide receiver DARNELL MOONEY on injured reserve on Tuesday. Mooney sustained an ankle injury that will require season-ending surgery early in the second half of Sunday’sMore loss to the New York Jets. Mooney got off to a slow start this season, but he left Sunday’s game as the team’s leading receiver with 40 catches for 493 yards. Less

The Bears have Allen Robinson as their franchise wideout (for now), but you'd expect there to be room for a quality No. 2. That will be Darnell Mooney, who the team has talked up in the offseason and who zoomed past Anthony Miller for that role a year ago. He's even more locked in after Miller was traded to Houston over the weekend.   more »
