I see Brandon Aiyuk was posting on social media, encouraging the Steelers to make a trade offer for him. And there have been suggestions the 49ers might be willing to listen.   more »

Around the NFL: Brandon Aiyuk

With the Super Bowl over, it's now the time of year where we get lots of stories about players either unhappy with their teams or perhaps their contracts. With Brandon Aiyuk, it's not certain which it is, but it seems to be one of them. Aside from the fact he has a contract for next season, he's in a position of strength.   more »

Fantasy Index Weekly: Super Bowl Preview: San Francisco

49ers: San Francisco's status as slight favorites surprises us, as noted yesterday, but we're not underestimating the NFC champs. On paper, they're better at a lot of positions: running back, receiver, and on defense. Four years ago they were winning in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LIV.   more »

24 Hours 'Til Sunday: Snapshot previews of all the games

It's Saturday, and the conference championship games are tomorrow. No disclaimer is needed regarding my advice here and the Weekly rankings; I did the articles on the site, so those are good to go. Except for the fact that Deebo Samuel (shoulder) is apparently playing.   more »

We've previewed all four teams over the last few days; now it's time to generate the rankings that result from those projections. A lot of 49ers position players grade out best. They've got a question mark at quarterback, but they're definitely facing the leakiest defense.   more »

49ers WR Samuel ready for bounce back season

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver DEEBO SAMUEL said recently about his 2022 season that “it was awful, in every aspect”. Samuel went on to say that he and head coach KyleMore Shanahan had a long meeting, watched tape, and put last season behind them. While Samuel may never repeat his breakout 2021 campaign (1,770 yards from scrimmage and 14 total touchdowns) he’s clearly ready to put last season behind him and get back to the level he knows he’s capable of. Take note, fantasy owners. Less

Factoid: Changing roles

Typically with football projections, you start by assuming players will be something like what you saw previously – usually slightly better or worse, but playing with the same style as the previous season. But on occasion, you run into guys like Deebo Samuel and Jaylen Waddle, where everything can be thrown out the window.  more »

Factoid: Running receivers

I notice the teams are using wide receivers more as runners. It’s more common to see them flex into the running back position, and it’s rare to see a game where somebody isn’t handling the ball on a jet sweep or an end-around.   more »
