Around the NFL: Deshaun Watson

I see on the schedule that Cleveland is playing at Houston this year. That game did not get selected for national television, but it’s at least late in the year. That gives Deshaun Watson a better chance of being available for his first game against his former team.  more »

Saints expect QB Winston to be ready for season opener

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen said that veteran quarterback JAMEIS WINSTON is doing well in his rehab from a torn ACL suffered last season. Allen added that it’s “certainlyMore the plan” for Winston to be behind center when the season starts. After DESHAUN WATSON was traded to the Cleveland Browns, the Saints quickly signed Winston to a two-year deal. New Orleans also bypassed the quarterback position during the draft, meaning Winston is the clear QB1 entering the 2022 season. Less

Darnold remains confident as Panthers explore options

The Carolina Panthers offseason moves suggest they do not view signal-caller SAM DARNOLD as the long-term answer at the quarterback position. Despite the Panthers pursuit of DESHAUN WATSON and various meetingsMore with quarterback prospects in the upcoming NFL draft, Darnold said recently that he knows he is “a good quarterback”. While Darnold’s confidence is admirable, the Panthers and fantasy owners beg to differ. Darnold has proven to be mostly erratic throughout his four-year career after being selected with the third overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Less

Browns keep QB carousel turning

The big news in Cleveland last week was the addition of QB DESHAUN WATSON, but the Browns were not done making changes to the quarterback room. The Browns proceeded to tradeMore backup quarterback CASE KEENUM to the Buffalo Bills over the weekend, while also agreeing to a one-year deal with 29-year old signal-caller JACOBY BRISSETT. The Brissett signing is noteworthy, considering that Watson could still face a suspension under the NFL’s personal conduct policy. Less

Factoid: Young guns

Quarterback is the key position in the NFL, and in that area, things have skewed towards the AFC side in recent weeks, with Russell Wilson traded out of Seattle and Deshaun Watson staying in conference in his trade. There are fewer quality quarterbacks in the NFC.   more »

Around the NFL: Browns win

Deshaun Watson has made his choice between the Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints by unexpectedly pivoting to Door No. 3. Around the NFL: Cleveland Browns

Around the NFL: Deshaun Watson

A Grand Jury declined to bring criminal charges against DeShaun Watson yesterday. He won't be going to jail. There are still a number of civil suits pending, and a supposedly ongoing league investigation, but it looks pretty likely he'll be playing in the NFL at some point this season.   more »

Texans QB Driskel switching positions

Houston quarterback JEFF DRISKEL is set to leave the Texans quarterback room and join the tight ends room instead. Houston is a rare team with four quarterbacks, including two that haven’tMore played a snap this season in Driskel and DESHAUN WATSON. While learning a new position in the NFL is no easy task, Driskel is said to have the overall athletic ability to do so.
