Factoid: Patriot WRs

I got some blowback yesterday to the idea that Kendrick Bourne will be New England’s best wide receiver. A couple of readers like Jakobi Meyers more, pointing out that he saw more targets last year. That gives him a safer floor, they think.  more »

Around the NFL: New England Patriots

Jakobi Meyers keeps getting selected earlier than Kendrick Bourne, and I don’t understand why. Bourne, in my opinion, is the best of the New England receivers – better than Meyers, and better than DeVante Parker, Nelson Agholor and Tyquan Thornton.   more »

Around the NFL: Patriots wideouts

In the "Lightning Round" questions on the last page of the magazine, the final question involved asking us what or who we'd given up on. I said Patriots receivers. It feels like ages since they've had a relevant one. And it kind of has been.   more »

Patriots trade for veteran WR Parker

The New England Patriots traded for Miami Dolphins wide receiver DEVANTE PARKER over the weekend. Parker, who turned 29 in January, has two seasons remaining on his contract and is setMore to join a wide receiver room in New England that also features wideouts JAKOBI MEYERS, KENDRICK BOURNE, NELSON AGHOLOR, and others. The Patriots should be familiar with Parker, who has spent his entire career with the divisional rival Miami Dolphins. Less

Factoid: Patriots receivers

The draft is on the horizon, and one of the lines of thinking is that the Patriots will select a wide receiver early. They need more play-making potential at that position to help Mac Jones continue to develop, the theory goes.   more »

Around the NFL: Patriots wideouts

Couple of items about New England wide receivers recently. While former first-rounder N'Keal Harry is fighting for a roster spot, former undrafted free agent Jakobi Meyers is in the mix to be the team's No. 1. A stark reminder that while the Patriots can't draft wideouts, they've had some success uncovering undrafted guys.   more »

Patriots double down at TE position

The New England Patriots secured the top two tight ends on the open market this week. After agreeing to terms with TE JONNU SMITH on Monday, the Patriots doubled down onMore Tuesday by reaching an agreement with fellow TE HUNTER HENRY. The Patriots also added wide receivers NELSON AGHOLOR and KENDRICK BOURNE as free agent pass catchers in what will be a revamped pass-catching corps heading into the 2021 season. Less

Around the NFL: New England wide receivers

The Patriots agreed to contracts with a pair of wide receivers on the opening day of free agency, and they’re getting different guys: One who can get deep, and another who does his best work in short-range situations.  more »

Around the NFL: Jordan Reed activated

The 49ers are activating Jordan Reed, and he looks like a sneaky solid play tonight. He’s just one of a half dozen players in this game affected by notable developments since we originally wrote up this game on Wednesday morning.  more »

Around the NFL: San Francisco Wide Receivers

It's tough to get back to the Super Bowl after losing it. The Patriots are the only team in the last 25 years to do so. San Francisco is the team fighting that history this year, and they'll be trying to do it with a wide receiver corps that gets thinner by the day.   more »

49ers moving on from WR Garcon

The San Francisco 49ers are declining to exercise the club option for wide receiver PIERRE GARCON for the 2019 season. With the team moving on from Garcon, the 49ers receiving corps will feature some combination of MARQUISE GOODWIN, DANTE PETTIS, KENDRICK BOURNE, TRENT TAYLOR, and RICHIE JAMES.

NFL Injury Report: Gronkowski might play at Tennessee

The Patriots have left for Tennessee, and Rob Gronkowski and Sony Michel are on the plane. Too early to say with 100 percent confidence they’ll play against the Titans, but New England doesn’t typically bring players to road games unless it feels there’s a decent chance they’ll play.   more »
