Around the NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jameis Winston says O.J. Howard is going to be a superstar who’ll knock everyone’s socks off. “Just sit back and watch,” the quarterback says. Should we all be looking to add the first tight end drafted to our fantasy rosters?  more »

Factoid: O.J. Howard

Jameis Winston is talking up rookie tight end O.J. Howard. He thinks the team's first-round pick will be "amazing." The history, though, makes it a lot more likely that will happen in a future season -- not 2017.   more »

Factoid: Rookie tight ends

There’s some buzz with the three rookie tight ends selected in the first round – O.J. Howard, Evan Engram and David Njoku. This is the time of year where assistant coaches make comments about how ‘so-and-so is really standing out’ at practice, with those quotes than cycling through the various channels on the internet, strengthening the mistaken idea that any of them is likely to do much of anything this year.   more »

Factoid: O.J. Howard

O.J. Howard is the consensus top tight end in this year's draft, a status enforced when he ran a 4.51 at the combine -- crazy fast for a tight end that weighs 251 pounds. But he was never a huge part of the passing game at Alabama, never catching more than 45 passes or 3 TDs in his four seasons. Should teams be concerned?  more »

Factoid: NFL draft

It’s an unusually good year for tight ends in the draft. O.J. Howard will be selected in the first round, and he might be joined for a few others.  more »

Around the NFL: NFL Combine

A couple of tight ends posted impressive numbers at the combine yesterday. First Alabama's O.J. Howard ran a 4.51 40-yard dash. That's one of the fastest times a tight end has turned in this century, and Howard is a big guy; a 6-foot-6, 251 pounder. He's almost certain to be the top tight end drafted.   more »
