Around the NFL: Good as Gould

Robbie Gould announced his retirement on Thursday. He bagged a lot of field goals during his 18 years in the league. He also serves as evidence that the kicker position is one better addressed in free agency rather than the draft.   more »

San Francisco trades for kicker Gonzalez

The San Francisco 49ers have acquired placekicker ZANE GONZALEZ in a trade with the Carolina Panthers. The trade seems to confirm that the 49ers are moving on from 40-year-old veteran freeMore agent kicker ROBBIE GOULD. Interestingly, Gonzalez missed the majority of the 2022 season with a groin injury and he did not attempt a field goal or an extra point. He did have an excellent season in 2021 for the Panthers, and the 49ers are hoping that Gonzalez can remain healthy and return to form this season. Gould, meanwhile, has had a brilliant 18-year career in the NFL. Time will tell if he continues in 2023 for a 19th season. Less

Factoid: Kickers on bad teams

Factoid: Good as Gould
