Factoid: Bryce Young

Carolina’s big two additions in free agency were both guards. The goal, apparently, is to give Bryce Young a chance at turning things around.   more »

Factoid: Bryce Young

Bryce Young had a rough rookie season. No getting around that. But I do see one area where he was sneaky good, coming in above expectations.   more »

Around the NFL: Diontae Johnson

Nothing like shaking up the wave of free agent signings with a good old-fashioned player for player trade. Diontae Johnson is out in Pittsburgh, traded to the Carolina Panthers for cornerback Donte Jackson -- if their lockers are denoted by initials, they can just take each other's. Who are the winners and losers?  more »

Factoid: C.J. Stroud

C.J. Stroud hasn’t even completed his first season, but at this point, it seems fair to compare him to guys like Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence. If you were starting an NFL team (or picking players in a dynasty league) you might reasonably select Stroud before those guys.   more »

Factoid: Struggling Bryce Young

Bryce Young and the Panthers offense sure are struggling. They're averaging just 270 next yards and 15 points per week. That drops to 14 if you remove the game Andy Dalton started. They're bad.   more »

Factoid: Panthers fire Reich

Carolina has fired Frank Reich, and if history is any indication, the offense probably will get a slight bump. Call it addition by subtraction or a dead cat bounce, but most teams tend to get a slight spark from shaking things up.   more »

Dynasty Leagues: Long-term quarterbacks

I think we’re at the point where it’s fair to conclude Carolina made a mistake in selecting Bryce Young No. 1 overall. Not that I’m writing him off after four pro starts, but both C.J. Stroud and Anthony Richardson both look a lot better.   more »

Factoid: C.J. Stroud

With C.J. Stroud, I have been impressed the most by his ability to get the ball downfield. He’s not settling for underneath throws, looking to get the ball out of his hands. He’s launching deeper throws that inflict damage, and he’s connecting on them.   more »

Panthers QB Young dealing with bum ankle

The Carolina Panthers had a walk-through practice on Wednesday due to the short week following their Monday night game against the New Orleans Saints. Factoid: Rookie quarterbacks

The season kicks off in full today, and it will be with three rookie quarterbacks who were top-4 overall picks. Eyeballs will be on Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud and Anthony Richardson.   more »

Factoid: Rookie QBs

Three quarterbacks were picked with the first four picks of the draft, and they’re all starting on opening day. That gets my attention, with the potential for more sacks and turnovers.   more »

Factoid: Aidan O'Connell

At what point is it fair to wonder if Aidan O’Connell might be better than some of the three quarterbacks picked in the first round? He passed for more yards and touchdowns in the preseason than all of them combined.  more »
