More catches in 2022 for Colts RB Taylor?

While it’s hard to imagine Indianapolis Colts running back JONATHAN TAYLOR improving upon his 2021 season, that’s exactly what could happen with new quarterback MATT RYAN in town. Indianapolis is likelyMore to swing the run-pass ratio back toward the passing game with the upgrade from CARSON WENTZ to Ryan, with Taylor possibly getting more touches in the passing game. Two years into his career, Taylor has 76 catches – 36 as a rookie and 40 last season – with the sky as the limit heading into his third season. Less

Colts content to ride with Ryan as QB for the foreseeable future

Indianapolis Colts GM Chris Ballard said that the team is happy with veteran MATT RYAN as the team’s quarterback, indicating he could hold that role even beyond the next couple ofMore seasons. Ryan, who turns 37 this month, feels like he can play at a high level for the foreseeable future – and the Colts seem to agree. In a draft full of question marks at the quarterback positions, the Colts did not draft a signal-caller. Less

Colts add star cornerback Gilmore

The Indianapolis Colts agreed to terms with five-time Pro Bowl cornerback STEPHON GILMORE on Friday on a two-year deal, locking up the former Bills, Patriots, and Panthers star after bringing himMore into town for a visit. Fantasy News: QB carousel

It’s been a crazy offseason, particularly at the quarterback position. Russell Wilson and Deshaun Watson are at new addresses, and there are some decent undercard items as well, with Matt Ryan and Carson Wentz in line to start for playoff-caliber teams.   more »

Falcons add Mariota to replace Ryan

On the same day that the Atlanta Falcons traded quarterback MATT RYAN to the Indianapolis Colts, the team announced that it had agreed to term with quarterback MARCUS MARIOTA on aMore two-year contract. Mariota, 28, was originally the second overall pick of the Tennessee Titans back in the 2015 NFL Draft. He spent last season in a backup and change-of-pace role with the Las Vegas Raiders, but he takes over the starting job in Atlanta heading into the 2022 season. Less

Colts add veteran QB Ryan

The Indianapolis Colts traded a third-round pick earlier this week to obtain veteran quarterback MATT RYAN from the Atlanta Falcons. Indianapolis has cycled through quarterbacks since the unexpected retirement of AndrewMore Luck in 2019. Since that time, the Colts have turned to JACOBY BRISSETT, PHILIP RIVERS, CARSON WENTZ, and now on to Ryan. Ryan, who will be 37 in May, wants to play out his contract – which runs through the 2023 season. Less

Factoid: Dead money

The Falcons were able to unload Matt Ryan, but they’re probably a couple years away from being competitive. They’ve got substantial cap issues they need to work through before they’ll be able to do much in free agency.   more »

Around the NFL: Colts land Matt Ryan

Heading into last year, I didn’t like the move up to 14 teams qualifying for the postseason. But after yet another notable quarterback move, it’s looking like the AFC will have no problems coming up with seven quality playoff teams. The Colts, having just landed Matt Ryan, look like a playoff team – perhaps the favorites in the AFC South.   more »

Around the NFL: Atlanta Falcons

Calvin Ridley has been suspended for the 2022 season, at a minimum; he'll be eligible to apply for reinstatement a year from now, but as we've seen in the past, professional sports tend to come down hard on gambling offenses. Nobody can say with any confidence when and where Ridley might play again.  more »

Factoid: Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons have the most hot-and-cold passing game right now. In recent games, they’ve either been clicking, or they’ve been unbearably bad. There’s been no middle ground.  more »

Factoid: Matt Ryan

It's a week of fantasy drafts, and I had my home league a couple of nights ago. This league awards 6 points for touchdown passes, but quarterbacks don't tend to go much earlier than in other leagues. There's good depth at the position, as shown by the fact that Mr. Irrelevant in this 16-round affair was Matt Ryan.  more »

Falcons QB Ryan learning new offense

Veteran Atlanta quarterback MATT RYAN has been working hard to learn the new offensive system that new head coach Arthur Smith is implementing. Smith is the head coach but he willMore also be calling the offensive plays this season. But fear not, fantasy owners. Ryan has had four different offensive coordinators since 2015, so he is used to new systems. Ryan also said this week that the transition has been “going well”. Less

Falcons ready to roll with veteran QB Ryan

New Atlanta Falcons quarterbacks coach Charles London has become a staunch supporter of veteran quarterback MATT RYAN. London said this week that the coaching staff studied Ryan extensively, concluding that heMore is still performing at a high level. Ryan, who will turn 36 on Monday, owns all the Falcons passing marks as he prepares to enter his 14th NFL season. Less

Factoid: Matt Ryan

While there's debate over exactly which quarterbacks will go 1-2-3, there's no doubt that those picks in the upcoming draft will in fact be used on quarterbacks. It's at No. 4 where the positional mystery begins. Will the Atlanta Falcons stay put and draft a pass catcher, or will they trade down with a quarterback-desperate team. Or will they themselves draft a quarterback?   more »
