Around the NFL: Las Vegas Raiders

I'm not sure how I feel about Zamir White for next season. As a rookie, the fourth-rounder couldn't get on the field. Last year, it was Week 15 before he finally did something noteworthy. But I know for a fact I'm not concerned about Alexander Mattison.   more »

Raiders have no plans to trade holdout RB Jacobs

Despite speculation to the contrary, the Las Vegas Raiders reportedly have no interest in trading disgruntled star running back JOSH JACOBS. Also in contrast to previous reports about Jacobs reporting toMore the team before Week #1, no deal is believed to be imminent and Jacobs’ status for the season opener is still very much up in the air. Second-year reserve ZAMIR WHITE has been handling the Raiders RB1 duties in Jacobs’ absence. At this point, Jacobs could find himself splitting carries with White in the season opener even if he does return to the team in the days ahead. Stay tuned, fantasy owners. Less

Raiders sign RB Williams to add backfield depth

The Las Vegas Raiders are adding running back depth by signing veteran rusher DAMIEN WILLIAMS. With JOSH JACOBS still holding out, Williams will join fellow running backs ZAMIR WHITE and AMEERMore ABDULLAH on the roster. Williams, 31, played in just one game last season with the Atlanta Falcons while spending most of his time on injured reserve before being released in December. Fantasy owners may recall that Williams had a big postseason and Super Bowl for Kansas City following the 2019 campaign. Less

Around the NFL: Make Haste?

Last week was a rough week for running back injuries, and entering Week 13, several starters look iffy. Will there be a viable fill-in or two? It's possible, although we probably won't know before the end of the week who will get the opportunity.   more »

Around the NFL: Josh Jacobs

It looks like I'm going to have Josh Jacobs on a lot of teams this year. Every story that comes out about him is negative, with a new one every day. What's interesting is that none of them actually have anything to do with him, but with people's expectations about the Raiders backfield.   more »

Around the NFL: Las Vegas Raiders

Football is back, like it was never away. Jacksonville didn't use any starters, but the Raiders did, which caused much discussion and debate over how the backfield might be utilized in the new, Josh McDaniels era. Most notably, we need to wonder how much we can trust in Josh Jacobs.   more »

Factoid: Day 3 running backs

We talk a lot about the devaluing of running backs, not only with them having a difficult time getting paid, but being selected later in the drafts; fewer first-round picks these days. Accordingly, better players should slip into the later rounds of the NFL Draft, and make an impact in fantasy leagues.   more »

Around the NFL: Day 3 Picks

Day 3 of the NFL Draft doesn't have the kind of excitement of the early rounds. It's a thrill to be drafted for most of the players, of course, but the perceived top prospects at some positions who fall to the fourth or fifth round were hoping to go earlier. But I see some intriguing players and landing spots here.   more »
