Dynasty Leagues: First-round wideouts

Rookie drafts are occurring in some dynasty leagues this month (if they haven't already happened), and I expect the first round will be wide receiver-heavy in most of them. That was the case in the actual NFL Draft, with four selected in the top 12 picks. I wondered how often those early selection pan out in the NFL -- what are the odds of them busting?   more »

Saints WR Thomas has much to prove in 2022

As fantasy owners are well aware, New Orleans wide receiver MICHAEL THOMAS was considered one of the best wideouts in the NFL just a few short seasons ago. After much dramaMore surrounding the 27 games he missed due to an ankle injury, Thomas has been very transparent about giving updates on his recent progress. The Saints added veteran wideout JARVIS LANDRY and drafted rookie CHRIS OLAVE this offseason to join a motivated Thomas who will be looking to return to the former version of himself. Less

Factoid: Rookie receivers

Somebody in the comments section (Robert S, I think) was asking about rookie receivers, and whether any of them will post top-40 numbers. I think I can answer that one. Yes, definitely.  more »

Saints WR Thomas still has hurdles to clear in rehab process

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen said recently that the team feels good about wide receiver MICHAEL THOMAS’ rehab progress, although he did note that there are “still a fewMore hurdles” to be cleared. Despite any hurdles that may exist, Allen said that the team is aiming to have Thomas in the lineup for the season opener. Thomas will also be joined by rookie first round wide receiver CHRIS OLAVE this season, forming a formidable receiving duo for quarterback JAMEIS WINSTON. Less

Around the NFL: Catching trouble

The Saints and Eagles obtained big-time receivers on the first day of the draft – New Orleans with the 11th pick in the first round, Philadelphia via trade. But I’m not confident that either team has the infrastructure to bring those guys to life.   more »

Factoid: First-round wideouts

It's an exciting draft class of wide receivers, with the Ohio State duo of Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave (pictured), Alabama's Jameson Williams and others looking like Day 1 picks. Considering how guys like Justin Jefferson and JaMarr Chase have performed right away the last two years, it's even more exciting. But the draft is not an exact science.   more »

Factoid: Rookie receivers

It’s a weird year for wide receivers. There’s plenty of talent, with perhaps a record number being selected in the first three rounds, but there’s no clear No. 1 prospect. In my eyes, there’s no receiver who looks like a lock to be one of the first two selected at the position.   more »

Around the NFL: Philadelphia Eagles

Before Calvin Ridley was suspended for the season, there were a couple of teams looking to trade for him. We learned last week that the Eagles were one of those teams, which makes sense. Last year's top pick DeVonta Smith was a 900-yard receiver, but he was about all they had at the position.   more »

Andy Richardson: First-round wideouts

Wide receivers ran the 40 at the NFL combine yesterday. It's a fun time, and a change after the combine was scrapped entirely a year ago, leaving us with only pro day times (which aren't uniform, and aren't as reliable). These are numbers that will absolutely affect when and where players are drafted at the end of next month.   more »
